Associate Director, Technology

The Associate Director, Transportation role is a key member of the Supply Chain Systems technology leadership team at Crate&Barrel, and will lead the technology team responsible for supporting the business needs of the following Supply Chain transportation functions - Transportation Planning & Management & Last mile delivery. This role is pivotal in the multi-year transformation of the Supply Chain and journey to establish enterprise-grade systems solutions with an eye on future growth and expansion of Crate&Barrel. This individual will collaborate with warehouse operations & logistics leadership to understand business needs and strategies, and in turn, drive technology/system solutions to meet these strategies and to optimize the work of the supply chain business domain.

What You'll Do...

  • Direct the development team to develop robust technical solutions that are aligned with the business and technology capability roadmap for Supply Chain - Transportation
  • Manage team of motivated and skilled development resources and is responsible for covering multiple technologies to launch, support and maintain software solutions.
  • Work closely with domain VP and senior level management
  • Represent domain business and strategy needs in development of multi-year IT strategy plan development.
  • Work with domain executives and IT leadership to represent this area for budgeting
  • Interact with software development domain teams to determine needs and execution plan for all multi domain projects.
  • Keep third party solutions current/relevant
  • Cross train and challenge staff to facilitate their career growth including legacy to package applications.
  • Partner with the Sr Director, Supply Chain Systems, business process owners, functional leads and subject matter experts to help define and clarify functional business requirements as it relates to transportation & logistics.
  • Understand existing business processes and technology to help develop the “to be” state, and partner with the business to establish clear metrics to define the goals around project success.
  • Participate in strategic process design sessions to define the functional and technical needs of the business.
  • Guide the development of functional designs in partnership with the business and technology teams that align with technology standards and architecture principles.
  • Provide technology leadership- by designing key solutions in collaboration with transportation & logistics teams
  • Provide leadership for solution test planning for functional and user acceptance testing.
  • Represent transportation & logistics business needs and domain strategies in development of the technology strategy.
  • Contribute to the technology strategy by identifying, assessing and recommending external trends in technology and methodologies as it relates to transportation & Logistics.
  • Understand future business strategies and directions to anticipate technical needs.
Required Skills

What You'll Bring...

  • Degreed professional (Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree) with at least 9 years of relevant experience, including design and implementation of supply chain & preferably transportation domain related systems.
  • At least 5 years in a management capacity, including leadership at the Sr. Manager or Director level, supervising and leading an application development team implementing additional software modules or application development to meet business objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work productively with senior leadership, technology partners, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience leading business analysts/product managers and application development teams and partnering with operations teams to deliver on transformational supply chain initiatives utilizing leading warehouse, transportation, labor and supply chain logistics software solutions.
