Ecommerce Merchandising Specialist

The eCommerce Merchandising Specialist is responsible for the execution and optimization of the customer shopping path, merchandising presentation, promotional messaging and marketing content in assigned categories. They will have the ability to combine an understanding of what drives e-commerce sales, an interest in the home goods retail sector, and a passion for user experience to improve the onsite merchandising strategy to optimize both customer experience and business results. As an expert on how our customers shop, they will advocate for the needs of our customers and serve as the go-to person for insight on site merchandising performance.
This is a hybrid position based out of our Northbrook, Illinois office. This role typically works in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays.
A day in the life as a eCommerce Merchandising Specialist…
- Drive sales and improve conversion by maximizing placement of products and digital assets to drive sales and customer engagement
- Support online seasonal visual merchandising strategy by execution of content across site and run quality control processes to ensure flawless execution. Track engagement with content and leverage insights to drive customer engagement optimizations
- Contribute to strategy and development of creative site executions of marketing campaigns and initiatives
- Optimize entry pages of the customer site to increase visit retention
- Partner with merchandising and marketing teams on cross functional meetings to represent eCommerce point of view and champion a “customer first” mindset
- Test all content and content links to ensure that information is accurate, accessible, and user-friendly across internet browsers and devices
- Review site daily with “customer first” mindset and make site updates and optimizations as needed. Identify and propose new site merchandising initiatives based on current trends and potential opportunities
- Review online competitor sites, promotional execution and user experience, to identify opportunities. See ideas through to execution
- Evaluate trends in sales and the customer purchase path to make recommendations with the goal of increasing conversion
- Create and present seasonal web hindsight on specific categories, user behavior, site metrics and relate findings to sales/performance
- Review key performance drivers for assigned categories. Recommend and take action based on findings
- Partner with design team to create assets to support execution needs
- Partner with UX team to continually evaluate customer shopping experience

- Bachelor's degree preferred
- A minimum of 2 years experience in eCommerce, Merchandising or Content Management
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS helpful, but not required
