Senior Manager, SEO

The Senior Manager, SEO is the primary owner of all search engine optimization activities for Crate and Barrel and CB2 brand websites. The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive SEO program including content, technical and link acquisition. The goal of the Senior Manager is to increase SEO traffic and visibility both on- and off-site, through: creating working partnerships throughout the organization to promote and encourage SEO-inclusion in all aspects of eCommerce initiatives; overseeing SEO content creation and management, analysis and review of technical site changes, site audits; managing team of full-time and seasonal associates; organizing and coordinating team workflow based on organizational needs and priorities; identifying opportunities for growth, developing and executing programs.

  • Create a vision and strategy for how the company evolves to scale SEO.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to meet and exceed company goals for organic search.
  • Develop and maintain SEO guidelines so eCommerce team members understand roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage on-site SEO content/technical optimizations and offsite initiatives including link building.
  • Perform in-depth technical audits and compile recommendations to ensure sites are structured in the best way possible.
  • Stay up-to-date on SEO techniques and best practices that impact site structure, keyword research and strategy, search-friendly content and content marketing strategies to increase online authority.
  • Seek out new technologies and opportunities to expand company’s organic footprint.
  • Proactively recommend and take actions to enhance overall search performance, prioritizing according to the size of opportunity and level of difficulty.
  • Monitor, analyze and report on metrics from various sources, including Adobe Analytics, Searchmetrics and Botify.
  • Responsible for reviewing site structure crawls and making recommendations for improvements to underlying website code.
  • Manage a team of SEO professionals and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these associates.
  • Mentor and educate junior members of the team on SEO strategy and execution.
  • Develop and maintain SEO guidelines for eCommerce department.
  • Meet with senior management on a regular basis to review strategy development, implementation and results.
  • Work closely with Paid Search and Social Media teams to find ways to leverage information and compliment the programs.
  • Build cross-functional relationships and interact daily with associates from IT, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain and Logistics, Direct Marketing Operations and Store Operations Departments, to facilitate and prioritize initiatives.

Required Skills
  • 7+ years experience in developing/managing SEO programs
  • 3+ years management experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to all levels
  • Proficiency with Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Keyword Planner, Screaming Frog, Botify and Searchmetrics
  • Experience with XML sitemaps, Robots.txt, Hreflang tags, and URL redirects
  • Knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript, and CSS as they relate to SEO
  • Deep knowledge of SEO practice and methodology, including architectural and design competencies, content writing and linking
  • Experience with HTML, JSON and other coding languages and mark-ups including schema.org
  • Proficiency with Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Keyword Planner, Screaming Frog, Botify and Searchmetrics
  • Exceptional communication skills - includes presentation, writing and advanced interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills - able to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills / strategic mindset - able to analyze and deliver relevant information
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Must be a self starter
  • Good reading, written and verbal language skills (English)
