CGI Artist

Location: Chicago, Illinois

This CGI Artist will support quality control creation of 3D models and rendering imagery for eCommerce and Marketing visualization projects.

This position is fully remote

A day in the life as a CGI Artist…

  • Create and gather necessary material specific to project requirements and scope
  • Assist in quality control of vendor models per our company standards
  • Create both high-poly models of props, as needed
  • Create proper UV unwraps of mesh models
  • Assist in creating and maintaining assets for our CGI texture library
    • Create shaders and textures based on physical samples, scans or photography
    • Assemble and test shaders using new material scans provided by vendor(s)
    • Place textures maps in the appropriate folder, link the maps to a Vray shader, and enter tiling information
    • Create test renders of scanned materials onto shader balls or template models
  • Assemble zips or vrscenezip packages for our content-management system
  • 3D scene setup in Autodesk 3dsMax for rendering tests
    • Keyframing assets and lighting for final imagery
  • Collect necessary 3D assets, shaders and textures into a scene file
  • Provide technical quality reviews for 3D models and other assets provided by third-party vendors

What you’ll bring to the table…

  • Intermediate level at 3D modeling (polygonal mesh) and computer-generated image post-production (Autodesk 3dsMax, V-Ray, Marvelous Designer)
  • Intermediate level at texture creation (Substance, Photoshop)
  • Familiarity with AR/VR technologies, modeling processes and workflows
  • High attention to detail and project specifications
  • Self-motivated and proactive with high multi-tasking ability
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to work successfully within and across teams and external vendors
  • Track and report progress on a daily basis

We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Must provide a link to Photorealistic 3D rendering portfolio within the home/lifestyle space (including password) on resume or provide PDF samples
  • 5 years experience in 3D modeling and rendering
  • Architectural or product visualization is a plus
  • Standard software experience required: Autodesk 3ds Max, V-Ray
  • Additional software experience: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Web-conferencing


Minimum Starting Rate: $59,000.00 Annually

Up to: $75,000.00 Annually

Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
