Accountant

This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
The role of the Accountant is a critical addition to the Finance/Accounting Team. The Accountant will have significant responsibilities in the monthly and annual general ledger close process and will maintain various reconciliations and reports. This role will work directly with various functional areas of the company and will have a direct impact in maintaining the financial integrity of a growing and exciting organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly journal entries and assist in monthly and annual general ledger closes.
- Collaborate with the rest of the team to close each period timely and accurately.
- Conduct various account reconciliations and analyses.
- Prepare various schedules for audits, tax, or to fulfill other reporting requirements.
- Manage and maintain ad hoc reporting and special projects.
- Analyze monthly and quarterly expenses.
- Provide financial reports to various departments or divisions.
- Research accounting issues and provide recommendations.
- Provide reporting and analysis on various accounts and focus on promoting sales or controlling expenses as they pertain to, or are driven by, your position and the functional areas you support
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to work independently
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
- Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports
- Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are a must
- Detail-oriented, able to maintain confidentiality
- Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Proficient with Excel
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to demonstrate data interpretation
Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
- A minimum of 2 years of previous accounting experience
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- General office equipment, including computer and printer, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), company email system, telephone, copier
- PeopleSoft or Hyperion experience is a plus
