Benefits Analyst

Location: Northbrook, Illinois

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for the accurate, compliant, and efficient administration of employee benefit programs across the U.S. and Canada. This role partners closely with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to administer health and welfare and retirement programs, deliver insightful reporting, and support strategic benefits decisions. Experience with Workday is required.

This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.

A day in the life as a Benefits Analyst...

  • Benefits Administration & Compliance

    • Administer health, welfare and retirement benefit programs across U.S. and Canada.

    • Respond to associate benefit inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely responses while reviewing eligibility, elections and payroll deductions.

    • Process and maintain benefit transactions in Workday ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

    • Conduct regular audits of benefit data to ensure compliance with regulatory and plan requirements.

    • Coordinate with payroll to resolve and recoup missed benefit premiums.

    • Point of contact for benefit carriers and insurance broker to resolve discrepancies and associate issues.

    • Responsibility for 401(k) plan form 5500 preparation, review, and timely filing, including coordination with recordkeepers, auditors, and third-party administrators.

    • Support additional annual and ongoing compliance reporting, including; ACA (1095-C filling), Healthcare 5500 filing, PCORI fees and Non-discrimination testing in the US as well as Quarterly Canadian T-10 retirement plan filings.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting

    • Assist with benefit modeling, trend analysis, and cost analysis to support decision-making.

    • Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports identifying trends and performance indicators.

    • Participate in benchmarking efforts and industry surveys.

  • Billing & Financial Coordination

    • Reconcile benefit invoices and partner with Finance on general ledger reporting and discrepancies.

  • Open Enrollment & Communications

    • Support planning and execution of annual open enrollment.

    • Assist in developing benefits communications, guides, FAQ’s and presentations.

    • Provide training and guidance to associates, leaders, and HR partners.

What you'll bring to the table...

  • Demonstrated experience with annual 401(k) 5500 filing that includes pulling and analyzing report data, responding to plan recordkeeper & auditor requests and ensuring that deadlines are met.  

  • Experience with additional compliance reporting, including ACA, PCORI, Healthcare 5500, and Non-discrimination testing.  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to explain complex information clearly.

  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Analytic mindset with the ability to identify trends and recommend process improvements.

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Professional discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Empathetic, service-oriented approach with a focus on delivering a positive associate experience.

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration, preferably in a multijurisdictional (U.S. and Canada) environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Experience with Workday or comparable HCM system.

  • Spanish/English bilingual skills strongly preferred


Starting Rate: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00

Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
