Director, Engineering - Marketing Technology

We are looking for a visionary Director, Engineering - Marketing Technology, with 12+ years of platform engineering experience and 5+ years in management. You will oversee multiple engineering teams within MarTech, lead strategic planning and delivery/execution, influence the internal developer platform strategy, remove roadblocks, and establish and drive engineering excellence. This role will lead the development, implementation, and optimization of our MarTech stack to drive customer engagement, personalization, and measurable business growth. You will be a key partner to marketing, product, and data teams, ensuring our technology solutions are scalable, innovative, and aligned with business objectives.

A day in the life as a Director, Engineering - Marketing Technology…
- Define and execute the long-term technical vision and roadmap for the marketing technology stack.
- Partner with marketing leadership to understand business needs and translate them into a clear, prioritized engineering roadmap.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new MarTech solutions, balancing build vs. buy decisions to ensure a scalable and cost-effective ecosystem.
- Stay ahead of industry trends in marketing technology, data privacy, and personalization to ensure our platform remains competitive and compliant.
- Represent the engineering department in senior leadership forums and contribute to broader organizational strategy.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of all marketing technology platforms and integrations, including CRM, CDP, marketing automation, personalization engines, and analytics tools.
- Ensure seamless and reliable data flow between systems to enable a unified customer view and power real-time personalization.
- Champion best practices for security, data governance, and scalability within the MarTech ecosystem.
- Serve as the senior technical authority for the team, removing roadblocks at a strategic level to ensure successful delivery of platform programs.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing marketing technology engineers.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
- Manage resource allocation and long-range capacity planning and ensure fiscal responsibility within your organization.
- Act as a key liaison between the Marketing, Engineering, Product, and Data teams.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, product management, and other engineering heads to align MarTech objectives with business goals.
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and strategies to non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives.
- Influence and shape the internal developer platform strategy, ensuring its scalability and alignment with future engineering needs across the organization.

- Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and organizational development skills.
- Proven ability to lead and scale platform engineering functions across multiple teams or a domain.
- Deep understanding of modern platform engineering methodologies, cloud-native architectures, and infrastructure automation at scale.
- Excellent executive communication, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels, including executive leadership.
- Demonstrated experience of responsible resource allocation, strategic vendor management, and ensuring the financial health of platform initiatives.
- Proven expertise in delivery and resource management for a large platform function, coupled with a strong track record of driving innovation and leading complex technical projects from conception to successful delivery within agile environments.
- Ability to cultivate a strong, positive, and productive engineering culture that empowers the team to drive engineering excellence and effectively influence enterprise-level platform strategy.
- Strong understanding of financial implications in decision-making, ensuring responsible use of company resources.
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in Marketing Technology engineering.
- Minimum of 5+ years in senior leadership roles managing large platform engineering teams or functions.
- Demonstrable experience in setting and executing platform strategy for a significant domain.
