Director of Engineering - Product Data

This position is fully remote
The Director of Engineering - Product Data will be responsible for supporting the assessment of systems and data products that support Product/Item/SKUs as well as recommending and delivering new systems and technology capabilities that enable a future-state roadmap. They will oversee engineering and solution quality teams that manage the development, maintenance, and enhancement of product information systems. In addition, they will be charged with leading efforts to ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and integration of product data across platforms.
A day in the life as a Director of Engineering - Product Data…
- Leadership and Strategy:
- Provide leadership and direction to engineering teams focused on product information management (PIM), data integration, and information architecture
- Develop and implement engineering strategies that support the company’s product information goals and business objectives
- Collaborate with senior management to define and execute the product information roadmap
- Product Information Management:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of robust product information systems that ensure data consistency, quality, and accessibility
- Implement excellent data governance, metadata, and lineage practices
- Lead initiatives to integrate product information across various platforms and ensure seamless data flow between systems
- Ensure that product data meets regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Team Management and Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing engineering team by recruiting, mentoring, and developing talent
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering teams
- Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback to team members
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with product management, digital, merch, and data governance teams to understand product data needs and develop engineering solutions that meet those needs
- Communicate technical strategies and progress to senior management and stakeholders
- Serve as a liaison between engineering teams and other departments to ensure alignment and collaboration
- Technology and Innovation:
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends related to product information management
- Evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance product information systems
- Drive innovation by encouraging the exploration of new ideas and approaches within the team
- Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure the accuracy, security, and compliance of product data across all systems.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices related to product information
- Oversee the implementation of data quality and validation processes to maintain high standards of data integrity
- Resource Management:
- Ensure resources are allocated effectively to meet project goals
- Optimize resource utilization and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget
What you’ll bring to the table…
- Strong understanding of product information systems, data integration, and information architecture
- Proficiency in software development methodologies and tools, including Agile and DevOps practices
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- 10 years of engineering experience in Product, Merchandising and/or Inventor Planning
- 10 years leading technology delivery and engineering development teams
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
