Lead Developer, Product Data API

As Lead Developer, Product Data API you’ll be part of the core enterprise API solutions team and play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable APIs and backend services. You’ll bring strong technical leadership to our MACH-based (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) architecture and help modernize our backend platforms that enable product onboarding, PIM, content enrichment, and partner integration systems.

A day in the life as a Lead Developer, Product Data API...
- Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to interpret requirements and design scalable, maintainable system architectures aligned with long-term technical goals
- Spearhead the development of performant APIs and microservices using technologies like C#/.NET 6/7, Golang, Node.js, and gRPC/REST, managing complex payloads (JSON/XML) and event-driven designs (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Champion API-first development with OpenAPI/Swagger, enforce best practices for API versioning, security (OAuth 2.0/JWT), throttling, and rate-limiting. Design efficient, scalable middleware and partner integrations
Own the full quality lifecycle through TDD/BDD, clean coding standards, and clear documentation. Lead code reviews, drive continuous improvement, and take full ownership of testing and performance optimization to ensure reliable, scalable APIs and services - Break down complex feature requests into actionable tasks, provide detailed effort estimates, and define meaningful KPIs to guide delivery success and system health
- Lead and coach Sr. and Jr. developers through pair programming, architectural guidance, and technical feedback to promote a high-performing, inclusive engineering culture
What you’ll bring to the table… (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities from JD)
- Over 5 years of experience building and managing scalable APIs and microservices with expertise in .NET Core/C#, Golang, and cloud-native services
- Minimum 2 years of experience with AWS or GCP cloud environments and familiarity with event streaming tools like Kafka or similar
- Strong hands-on experience with both relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cosmos DB) databases, along with caching solutions like Redis and indexing engines like Elasticsearch
- Deep understanding of REST/gRPC principles, API gateways, security patterns, documentation standards, and observability strategies
- Experience integrating modern APIs and services with on-premises legacy systems, including SOAP-based APIs, legacy data models, and batch processing workflows
- Proven experience in Agile/Scrum environments, with strong familiarity in CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code principles
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and telemetry tools such as Datadog, Sumo Logic, ELK Stack, or New Relic, enabling real-time diagnostics and root cause analysis
- Background in retail technology and domain expertise in PIM, DAM, and PLM systems—especially in areas like product onboarding, item setup, and content syndication—is highly preferred
