Support Technician

The End User team provides engineering and support for technologies across the organization including: all desktops and laptops, mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), printers/copiers, conference room technology. They are also responsible for managing all store and warehouse technology to include: POS machines, general-use PCs, printers, and hand-held devices.
The End User Support Technician is responsible for enhancing existing deployed technologies as well as analyzing and engineering new solutions to ensure business needs continue to be met going forward. The End User Support Technician ensures we select, deploy, and optimize solutions to empower the business and modernize our capabilities.
This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL offices with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as an End User Support Technician...
- Document existing capabilities in the existing end user technology space
- Explore potential future options (through vendor discussions pilots, research, industry sources, etc) for end user technologies and compare/contrast solutions. Roadmap expected successor technologies, logic behind decisions, and expected logistics and costs for eventual replacements and new deployments. Coordinate with Mgr, Service Desk, Operations, and Store Ops and internal business partners for any technologies recommendations regarding stores.
- Analyze and Optimize Existing Deployments – Seek and present ways in which we can minimize costs, reduce overlap, reduce management cycles, and enhance capabilities (e.g. printer support contracts, compare support vendors for break fix/deployment)
- Recommend and drive more effective management of systems through standardization and automation. Work with End User Techs and Service Operations staff to action optimizations.
- Create and submit knowledge base documentation for use by End User Techs and Service and Operations desk staff
- Scripting and Automation to improve rollouts and enhance existing deployments
- Train and onboard new coworkers in the department
- Mentor existing coworkers on technical issues
- Provide subject matter expertise for key technologies
What you’ll bring to the table…
- Technical Expert in End User Technologies including Desktop Technologies (e.g. Windows, Mac, Vdi, Cloud based compute), Video Conferencing (e.g Zoom, Hangouts, Vimeo), End User Compute Hardware (e.g. laptops, desktops, tablets, Mac’s), collaborations tools (e.g. M365, Slack, hipchat, G-Suite)
- Strong scripting experience (e.g. powershell, VB)
- Self-driven. Ability to meet high level deliverables with little supervision. Ability to set, drive, and communicate appropriate priorities based upon position charter
- Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collect and present information and documentation to various audiences includes technicians and Sr. Leaders
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once
- Collaborate with technical peers various internal teams to set vision. Promote a strong sense of teamwork
- Maintain awareness of industry best practices and partner with management to ensure these are applied appropriately
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- 5 years experience architecting, engineering, or supporting End User Technology
- Technical expert in the end user technology space
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical field or equivalent experience preferred
