Workers' Compensation Manager

The Workers’ Compensation Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining and managing all workers’ compensation, return to work related issues and corresponding aspects of the Company’s health and safety programs. This role is responsible for implementing all matters of the program including claims investigations, settlements and litigation as well as reviewing trends associated with claims, developing recommendations and programs to address concerns and advising leadership teams on changes to the legislative landscape.

offices with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays. - This role is an Individual Contributor position
A day in the life as a Workers Compensation Manager…
- Responsible for negotiation and management of relationship with the Workers’ Compensation Third Party Administrator (TPA) claim adjusters and legal counsel on status, reserves, defense strategies, settlements and closures.
- Oversight of all local, state and federal (OSHA, Labor Department, et al) regulatory compliance including researching, implementation and communication to field location leadership teams.
- In partnership with key stakeholders, effectively manage the Workers’ Compensation budget, ensuring alignment with executive channel leadership on recommended settlements and high exposure claims.
- Design, implement and/or deliver processes, programs and policies with a focus on maintaining a safe working environment for all associates through education and risk assessment.
- Participate and conduct on-site safety walkthroughs, selecting high incident rate locations and providing thorough and timely summaries to applicable business leader to drive and build a culture and safetey.
- Compile, analyze and interpret data related to injuries and incidents with a focus on trends, risk aversion and proposals for future initiatives; esclating to leadership and appropriate business partners when appropriate.
- Own root cause analysis to determine opportunities to promote a safety culture, hazard analysis and gaps in training based on best in class companies and industry standards.
- Collaborate with HRBPs to influence leadership to drive change and solve and address root cause determinations related to safety.
- Centralize company Workers' Compensation program metrics, including Origami online reporting, and conduct overall quarterly reviews with initial recommendations by channel and location for leadership, including comparison to best in class and industry standards.
- Management of programs related to Workers’ Compensation with a focus on proactive claim management while providing excellent support to associates (including Return to work programs).
- Analyze, review, and manage claims processes as designated by the Client Service Agreement with the TPA, supporting the gathering and recording of information related to claims in a timely manner and assisting with questions from HRBPs and field leadership
- Ensure accurate financial forecasting for the life of a claim.
- Regular roundtables with TPA, legal and case management to develop an agreed upon resolution strategy ensuring that the TPA is using resources to mitigate exposure (case management, surveillance, prior medical records, etc.)
- Considered as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert when evaluating claims in an effort to bring the claim to the most cost-effective resolution.

- Strong analytical skills, excellent written communication skills, and knowledge of relevant regulations.
- Understand and ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Must possess an innate ability to calmly handle stressful, high tension situations.
- Ability to demonstrate data interpretation through analytical skills
- Knowledge of HR Compliance, especially OSHA (Federal, State and Local)
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- 5+ years relevant work experience in Workers Compensation Management
- An Associate’s Degree in Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Therapy or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology including understanding of types/extents of injuries.
- Ability to travel as needed
