Global Transportation Administration Coordinator

The Global Transportation Administration Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the administration of freight payment and supporting the domestic operations of ocean imports, with a primary focus on transload and drayage. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy and supporting the daily logistics between internal and external partners to help manage costs and drive company growth.
- This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL offices with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays
- This role is an Individual Contributor position
A day in the life as a Global Transportation Administration Coordinator...
- Assist the team in auditing invoices from all modes of transportation for accuracy
- Resolve discrepancies under the guidance of the Manager and ensuring timely payment to logistics partners
- Coordinate with dray carriers and transload 3PLs to balance the inbound flow of containers and support the outbound flow of trailers to distribution centers
- Partner with our transload 3PL’s and domestic transportation teams to manage intermodal carriers for the outbound flow of trailers to our distribution centers
- Analyze daily data and reports to support the team's efforts in eliminating demurrage and detention
- Act as a liaison between vendors, Merchandising Teams, DC Operations, and Transportation Partners for the execution of global shipping
What you’ll bring to the table…
- Foundational understanding and knowledge of the various modes of transportation and global logistics terminology
- Strong analytical background with a strong emphasis around data driven reporting
- Ability to think tactically and strategically with strong communication skills both verbally and written, to different departments within Crate and Barrel as well as all of our international vendors and logistics partners
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while promoting a strong sense of teamwork.
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- 3+ years of experience in logistics or freight forwarding industry ideally in Ocean Import
- A solid understanding of transload and/or cross dock operations as well as domestic transportation processes (drayage, intermodal, and FTL)
- Experience with freight payment systems and auditing invoices for accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google platforms, with a strong emphasis on data analysis and reporting
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) preferred
