Lead Software Engineer, Planning, Allocations & Merch

A day in the life as a Lead Software Engineer, Planning, Allocations & Merch...
Translate business requirements into detailed functional designs, technical specifications, and Solution Design Documentation
Maintain and enhance legacy applications developed in IBM iSeries RPGLE, ensuring compatibility with modern systems and ongoing business needs
Participate in and contribute to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
Enforce software engineering best practices through code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to coding standards
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues in a timely and transparent manner, driving root cause analysis and long-term resolution
Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks and streamline workflows across systems and teams
Mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
Operate independently and proactively, taking initiative under general direction while collaborating across teams and time zones
Monitor system and coordinate user service requests
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the offshore development team; proactively answer technical queries, clarify design specifications, and remove blockers to maintain momentum
What you'll bring to the table...
Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to set technical vision and guide a team
Deep understanding of agile software development methodologies and the software development lifecycle
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills in working alongside business disciplines and other technology disciplines
Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide other engineers
Solid understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and system scalability
Proficiency in designing and developing scalable and maintainable software solutions in an iterative way
Knowledge of agile software development best practices, coding standards, and testing methodologies
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and related technologies
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience working with and managing deliverables for offshore/distributed development teams across different time zones
Proven track record of delivering software projects on time while managing competing technical priorities
We'd love to hear from you if you have...
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
8+ years experience with I-Series development, RPG, ILE, SQLRPGLE, CL, SQL, and SDA is a must
5+ years of experience in backend API & Microservices development is preferred
2+ years of experience in any public cloud technologies (Azure or GCP) is preferred
Experience in Web services or 3rd party Application/tool Integration with Iseries or Iseries data migration to cloud
Experience with data migration to Google BigQuery or Azure is a plus
Experience with JSON is a plus
Experience with the following: Waterfall, Agile/Scrum Development and Continuous Integration and delivery
Experience working in Retail merchandising systems or supply chain process knowledge is preferred
Experience working with systems or applications that cross international boundaries
Starting Rate: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00
Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
