Social Media Content Creator

The Social Media Content Creator, an avid user of Instagram and TikTok, creates video content for these platforms and designs Instagram Stories and Pinterest assets for the Crate and Barrel brand. This role requires a passion for social media, pop culture, and innovative content creation. The ideal candidate excels at visual storytelling, capturing and editing content natively on an iPhone and within the Instagram and TikTok apps, and managing the nuances of social content. They stay current on social media trends and enjoy experimenting with content in new and imaginative ways.
This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as a Social Media Content Creator…
- Ideate video concepts, film all original video assets (on mobile device and/or camera) and edit whether in or outside of the Instagram and TikTok apps
- Execute beautiful, relevant, and highly engaging video content to grow our Instagram and TikTok audiences for Crate and Barrel by creating: 15-20 Instagram Reels and 8-10 original TikTok Videos each month
- Design 30-40 Instagram Stories and 15 Pinterest Pins each month
- Lead creative strategy and execution for videos, stories, and pins through monthly brainstorms with Social and Brand Marketing teams to create content ideas that infuse trends, pop culture, and brand priorities that will increase reach, engagement, and test new formats
- Partner alongside stakeholders to ensure content represents our brand identity and delivers on objectives through detailed storyboards for monthly social, seasonal, and campaign-based social content
- Coordinate styling needs in partnership with a food stylist, merch team / stylist, and talent on set for each shoot
- Commute to various locations throughout the Chicagoland area to shoot and capture video content - Headquarters, Studio, Stores, Events, On Location as needed
- Lead process for production logistics including: product sourcing, location booking, etc.
- Keep up with the latest social media trends and features on Instagram, TIkTok, and Pinterest
- Present concepts, creative deliverables, and learnings/insights in stakeholder reviews
What you’ll bring to the table…
- Must provide a link to portfolio (including password) on resume or provide PDF samples
- Eye for design, staging, and props to style interiors and kitchen spaces to bring concepts and brand aesthetic to life
- Live and breathe “social media culture” - knowledgeable and up-to-date in different social trends, pop culture, and best practices
- Understand Instagram vs TikTok’s ecosystem: trends, challenges, hashtags, filters, music usage, functionalities, guidelines, and best practices
- Strong passion for design and drive to understand topics relevant to design, furniture, decor, kitchen and entertaining
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business environment while staying organized, proactive, and adaptable
- Tech-savvy, team player with strong communication skills - ability to connect and collaborate in person and remotely
- Confident pitching content ideas to marketing and creative stakeholders with an emphasis on engagement and innovation
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- 2 years of experience in a related field producing video content and designing assets for social media
- Must reside in Chicagoland area and willing to commute and work in different Crate locations as business needs dictate
- Responsible for capturing videos on site at the studio, headquarters, Crate stores, events, and photoshoots on location
- Multimedia content creation and editing with the ability to capture and edit videos (and photos is a plus) and transform existing video into social-first content
- Expert in capturing videos using DSLR camera or mobile device and online recording techniques
- Proficiency with a range of Adobe Creative Suite products (Premier Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) or other creative editing software
- Significant experience as an Instagram and TikTokuser or creator
- Proficiency with Google suite (drive, docs, slides, etc)
