DevOps Engineer

A DevOps Engineer will collaborate to manage infrastructure projects and processes. They will be part of a team supporting production, monitoring, and operations for our retail websites. They should have strong intellectual curiosity to analyze and interpret the data to improve website performance.
This role is an Individual Contributor position which can be worked fully remote.
A day in the life as a DevOps Engineer…
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP using Terraform, focusing on automation and scalability.
- Improve website scalability to automatically handle traffic surges while balancing site reliability and cost
- Add build gates (regression tests, linting, security scans) to code deployment pipelines to reduce production incidents and improve release velocity.
- Proactively monitor real-time application performance to identify areas for improvement
- Implement production fixes and contribute to root cause analysis to minimize disruptions to customer experience.
- Implement and manage access control policies for production databases and tools, adhering to zero-trust security principles
What you’ll bring to the table…
- Strong working knowledge in at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Bash, Powershell)
- Experience using Cloud providers (AWS and/or GCP)
- Familiarity with common cybersecurity standards and best practices
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively to support multiple teams developing disparate applications
- Strong communication skills to collaborate efficiently, effectively and respectively with teammates
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable work experience
- Demonstrated experience in a production software development/deployment environment
We’d love to hear from you if you have…
- Proficient in developing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Teamcity, Octopus Deploy), including experience managing and adhering to a standard Git workflow
- Deep understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure management with Terraform
- Understanding of.NET/C# and JavaScript programming concepts.
- Skilled in using Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration. Familiarity with Istio service mesh is a plus.
- Knowledge of relational database management systems, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
- Hands-on experience with setting up and configuring monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog, etc.) and creating informative dashboards.
