Industrial Engineer, Labor Management Systems

Responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our labor management system, utilizing Predetermined Motion Time Systems (PMTS), Engineered Labor Standards (ELS), and time study methodologies. This role is critical to optimizing our operational efficiency, improving productivity, and ensuring accurate labor planning and costing. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in implementing process improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for efficiency gains, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance.

A Day in the Life as an Industrial Engineer, Labor Management System...

  • Lead the implementation of a new labor management system from concept to steady state for the Supply Chain Distribution network

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of existing processes to identify opportunities for improvement and standardization

  • Develop and apply Predetermined Motion Time Systems (e.g., MTM, MOST) and conduct detailed time studies to establish accurate and fair Engineered Labor Standards (ELS) for all direct and indirect labor tasks

  • Collaborate with DC operation teams to validate standards and ensure buy-in

  • Design and develop the necessary data collection systems and reporting tools to support the labor management system

  • Maintain the labor management system in a steady-state environment, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of all ELS

  • Conduct regular audits and re-evaluations of existing standards to account for process changes, new equipment, or product modifications

  • Analyze performance data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and resource utilization

  • Work with supervisors and managers to interpret performance reports and develop action plans to close performance gaps

  • Develop and deliver training programs for supervisors and employees on the principles of labor standards, time studies, and the proper use of the labor management system

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on PMTS, ELS, and time study methodologies

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from front-line employees to senior leadership, regarding system status, performance, and improvement initiatives

  • Utilize data analysis techniques to provide insights into labor costs, productivity trends, and operational bottlenecks

  • Generate and present regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to labor efficiency and standard attainment

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing accurate labor cost projections based on ELS.

What you'll bring to the table...

  • Labor Management (MTM or MOST preferred)

  • Lean Six Sigma methodologies

  • Coaching, development and training skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Distribution Operation knowledge

  • Ability to travel up to 75% 

We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience as an Industrial Engineer in a manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment.

  • Proven experience in implementing and maintaining a labor management system.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Hands-on experience conducting time studies and applying Predetermined Motion Time Systems (e.g., MTM, MOST, or similar).

  • Experience in a Lean or Six Sigma environment is a strong plus.


Starting Rate: $67,900.00 - $89,950.00

Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
