Senior Designer, Digital Product Design - Checkout Services

As the Senior UX Product Designer on CBH’s Checkout Services Team, you will own the end-to-end user experience and design (UX/UI) of our award-winning checkout platform for Crate & Barrel and CB2. Your primary focus will be on payment systems and options, the loyalty program and rewards, and the brand credit card, ensuring a seamless and highly functional checkout experience

In this role, you will craft user-centric, visually stunning, and effective solutions that balance customer needs with business goals. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders and work within a full agile team to conduct research, wireframe, prototype, test, and create high-fidelity designs, guiding projects from discovery to quality assurance. This position requires strong UX expertise, exceptional UI capabilities, and a product-oriented mindset to continuously optimize and innovate the checkout experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end UX and product design for CBH payment systems and functionality across web and app platforms, including user research, wireframing, user flows, high-fidelity interfaces, and interactive prototypes.
  • Expertise in design with a strong understanding of typography, juxtaposition, color theory, visual hierarchy, and pacing.
  • Collaborate with product management, the technology team, and members of the design and UX strategy/research teams to ensure new user experiences meet or exceed company brand standards.
  • Leverage and help define user-centered design processes, working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Master and implement business rules applicable to the checkout flow as prescribed by third-party vendors and internal business processes.
  • Advocate for the customer as a member of an agile product team.
  • Analyze user interface problems and feedback, creating on-brand design solutions that bridge user and business goals.
  • Apply patterns and components from the CBH Design System to work efficiently, ensuring new user experiences align with and enhance the company’s brand image.
  • Partner effectively with third-party providers for qualitative or quantitative research as needed.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Digital Team’s vision and the role of user-centered design in an agile work environment.
  • Contribute to the pattern library and design system by creating components and elements that adhere to system standards.
  • Continuously work to elevate and improve all experiences to maintain a best-in-class checkout experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master in 1, strong in 2, capable in 2 others: User Research, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, UX Writing, Visual Design, Service Design, Interactions, Prototyping, Quantitative Research and Analysis, Animation
  • Strong grasp of pattern libraries and design systems
  • Strong communication skills - including ability to present research findings and design solutions with clear rationale behind decision making, clear and concise written communication, strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative cross-functional team environment that partners design with business stakeholders, technology and other designers.
  • Experience in defining business or functional requirements for digital initiatives
  • Familiarity with retail industry and eCommerce a plus; familiarity with qualitative and quantitative user research methods
  • Strong problem-solving skills and detail-orientation

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years previous experience as a Digital Product Designer, UX Designer, or Interaction Designer.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Design, HCI or equivalent
  • Figma; Remote Usability Testing/Web Conferencing software services, Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc...); Apple computer operating system required. Familiarity with HTML/CSS, and other prototyping tools.

Minimum Starting Rate: $95,000.00 Annually

Up to: $135,000.00 Annually

Pay ranges will be adjusted upward as needed to comply with applicable state and local law. In addition to your salary, based on your role, associates may be eligible for other compensation including bonuses, sales incentives, and long term incentives.
